Choosing the perfect boiler for you

Depending on the size of you property, amount of occupants and bathrooms, determines the size or type of boiler that will suit your home

Combination boiler; houses up to 4 bedrooms with 1 bathroom with 1 en suite (shower only)

Positives -

  1. Extemely efficent

  2. Compact design

  3. Hot water on demand

  4. High pressure water delivery

Cons -

  1. May struggle with high hot water demands

  2. Slower flow rates

  3. Relies on mains water presssure

  4. Old homes and heating systems may not be compatible

System boiler; houses with 3-6 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms and 2 en suites

Positives -

  1. Can serve high hot water demands

  2. Requires less space than a heat only boiler / regualr boiler

  3. Compatible with solar

  4. High presure, fast hot water flow

Cons -

  1. Needs substanial space to install

  2. Finite volume of inatant hot water

  3. Heat loss from tank is constant

  4. Repair and maintance is more complex

Heat only boiler - Large houses with multiple bedrooms and large heating systems.

Positives -

  1. They still work well even if your mains pressure is low

  2. You still get hot water even if someone is running the shower and kitchen taps at the same time

  3. They’re easy to maintiain as they have a simple design

  4. Back up hot water with immersion heater

  5. Compatible with older heating systems

Cons -

  1. Pressure flow for showers and hot water can be low

  2. You’ll need space for hot and cold water storage tanks

  3. They are not as efficent

  4. Hot water can run out and take time to heat up
